Against hate, racism, xenophobia, and homophobia.

MANIFEST

Freedom, equality, and fraternity are the fundamental principles with which the Enlightenment confronts ignorance, fanaticism, and tyranny in a struggle to protect the rights of our fellow human beings. All of us who inhabit this beautiful planet struggle for fundamental rights that make existence worth living, a struggle that began in 1776 in the American colonies, that was promulgated in Paris in 1789, and corroborated in 1948 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, with the purpose of preventing people or religions from confronting each other again, and that survivors of a HATE inoculated by that ignorance, and that fanaticism in the service of tyranny, made them witnesses to the industrial extermination of millions of the infirm, the elderly, women, and innocent and defenseless children, since they have been denied not just the legal rights of nationality and identity, but also their very human essence and right to live.

In the present, dozens of countries are immersed in military conflicts, at war against terrorist organizations, and even at war against criminal groups related to drug trafficking, which can add more failed states to a world in which there are already about seventy million refugees who have lost everything except their lives. This is a nightmare every day in camps that are more like concentration camps, than decent facilities for desperate families with children in their care, a world in which there are corpses of babies on the beaches, or babies are born in the Mediterranean aboard precarious vessels, chartered by international criminals, related to the trafficking of arms and drugs, or the trafficking of women as sex slaves.

Diseases and epidemics know no boundaries, the most dangerous of all the plagues that threaten us today are hate and fear, hate and fear that have been channeled through the internet, from fanatics who infect desperate and disenfranchised young people with that hatred, perverting religious principles, or stimulating racial prejudices, to individuals who use the fear this generates to shout that they will erect walls to defend themselves from this threat, close their borders, or raise new ones by abandoning the project  of the European Union, and then without embarrassment or scruples, state that "property can be  replaced, life cannot."

"Everyone has the right to the establishment of a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration are fully realized."  Article 28 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the time has come for human beings to face up to the duty of making this declaration effective, the duty of subjecting national sovereignties to the principle of universal justice, and the actual exercise of the right of asylum, the time has come when we have to fight together against hate on the internet, a technological reality, a world without borders, in a world whose map was drawn with paper and pens.

To use the greatest knowledge tool ever created to convey that message, this message.  Have you ever met a foreigner? I only know people from other places, hatred, fear, hunger, and ire, are feeding the old demons, Pandora's box is breaking, in the end she will be the only one able to stop the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, HOPE, this is not about me, it's for you, for all of us.

This tool, the most powerful tool in history can build a glorious future for all of us, allows hatred to spread uncontrollably, but for those who have used it to denounce human rights abuses, corruption, or the generation of horrific wars, today live persecuted and treated as criminal refugees, people like Julian Assange or Edward Snowden, whose crime has been to inform the public of these facts.

This is why we convened the first universal festival of short films, so that in a world without borders, messages of hate, nationalistic and exclusionary messages, such as "we first" or "America first", inspired by the old message of "Deutschland uber alles," be swept away by HOPE-FIRST, hope first, the hope that we will not have to find it hidden in the bottom of a box full of demons called Pandora, if that mad and irrational hatred finally unleashes the confrontation between the peoples and religions of the world, while JUSTICE is tied up in chains that prevent her from defending those same human rights, and from persecuting the satraps who commit them, since those boarders are closed to the blind Goddess, closed to those who flee from them, or from misery, but not closed to the riches that criminals can create by pressing a computer key.

LET’S STIMULATE IMAGINATION, LET’S SHARE THE DREAM OF FREEDOM, SECURITY, PEACE, AND UNIVERSAL JUSTICE FOR ALL OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, SONS AND DAUGHTERS, FOR THEM, BECAUSE YOU, AND I, AND HE, WE ARE US, AND WE ARE EVERYONE, IT IS A DREAM, AND THE DREAMS ARE FILMS, SO THAT WE CAN DREAM, SO THAT WE CAN FORGIVE, SO THAT WE CAN LOVE, AND SO THAT WE CAN FIGHT.
